Matt Powell serves as the head of the Financial Crimes Unit for Regions Bank. He joined Regions in March 2023 and has more than 25 years of fraud management experience with top tier global financial institutions.
Prior to joining Regions, he was the EVP Head of Fraud and Claims Management at Wells Fargo. He had responsibility for the end to end fraud functions with a team of 8,000 people.
Prior to Wells he has managed fraud functions at both Citi and Bank of America. At Citi he led the Global Fraud Organization spanning 23 countries across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. At Bank of America he held a variety of fraud management and branch operations roles including: Global Fraud Analytics, Head of Large Commercial and Corporate Banking, and Global Fraud Operations.
Matt started his career at Citi where he held several risk management positions and led 9 bank acquisitions for fraud functions.
Matt was born and raised in Texas and has had the opportunity to live in 8 different locations in the US and in India. He currently resides in Charlotte, NC with his wife Mandi and their English bulldog Andy.
