Steve Fay-Cosman currently owns the technology for Sun Life’s Retail Insurance business in Canada. For 35 years he has lead the delivery of innovative solutions to enable core business opportunities in sales, service, backoffice and more, enabling rich digital interaction between the company and its clients. Starting his career in sales, Steve quickly saw the power of technology to improve the ability of a sales team to manage their pipeline and customer data while simultaneously improving the relationship. Focusing on improved client satisfaction and more positive interactions he spent a decade focused on real CRM capabilities and delivering early Internet capabilities like health claims submission.
As companies like Google and Amazon changed client perceptions for how people interact with business it became clear that integrated solutions across the back-office and front-office are more crucial than ever. Clients expect seamless service and instant updates on their terms. Integrating these systems the right way to provide clients and the people that serve them a rich digital experience supporting what’s important to them has been, and continues to be, the focus. This includes evolving the Advisor sales tools to offer real insight about client needs based on a full picture of both open and proprietary data so that they can best serve the client with offers and insight personalized for them. Evolving New Business systems to deliver instant decisions to clients as they submit their applications in an easy and convenient way.
More recently the work has been evolving the core. Asking questions to inform how the insurance technology platform should evolve to support clients and their advisors tomorrow. What are the products they will want in 5 or 10 or 20 years? What data is crucial to make available to them in real time? What is the right technology to use now when AI is evolving hourly? How do we ensure the best data… that is the one constant as platforms and applications evolve and change.
The focus however always remains on the client and ensuring we help them achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.
