Michael Byrne is CEO of Core Credit Union Ltd, with over two decades of leadership in community finance. A qualified ACCA accountant, QFA, and IoD Diploma holder, he has driven innovation, regulatory engagement, and sector-wide strategic, digital and operational transformation. Michael helped establish Credit Union Services Organisations for current accounts (now in 81 credit unions across 261 branches) and mortgages (which will soon be available through 70 credit unions). He has served on the board of the national representative body for Credit Unions (ILCU) and the Swoboda Research Centre, bringing strategic insight, governance expertise and a collaborative spirit to raising standards and sustainability across the credit union movement
